Cultural Secretary

The Cultural Secretary heads the Cultural Committee at IIM Trichy - a role that quietly sits at the heart of what makes campus life memorable.

Because two years go by faster than anyone expects, and someone has to make sure they are worth remembering.
For most students, IIM Trichy is home for two years, away from their own. It falls to the Cultural Secretary to ensure none of it is spent feeling that way. Every festival, every celebration that would otherwise pass by unnoticed in the middle of deadlines and assignments - they make sure it is felt, honored, and remembered.
From the nervous energy of Freshers' Night to the bittersweet warmth of Farewell, and everything in between, the Cultural Secretary is the one quietly making sure every moment lands the way it should.

At the heart of it all sits Sanskriti - a week-long fusion of battle and belonging, where sections compete, rivalries unfold, and a champion is crowned. It is where friendships are tested, talents are discovered, and the campus comes alive in a way nothing else quite manages to replicate. Part competition, part celebration - it is the Cultural Committee's biggest stage and the one week everyone carries with them long after they leavemer

Merchandising and Retail Committee (MARC) Secretary

The Secretary of the Merchandising and Retail Committee (MARC) at IIM Tiruchirappalli plays a central role in managing the institute’s official branding and merchandise initiatives. This involves working closely with institute stakeholders to design and deliver official merchandise such as T-shirts, sweatshirts, souvenirs, and customised products that resonate with students, faculty, alumni, and institute bodies.

Beyond operations, the role contributes to strengthening the IIM Trichy brand by ensuring quality, consistency, and relevance across all offerings. The Secretary also plays a key part in identifying opportunities to expand merchandise outreach, improve accessibility, and enhance the overall customer experience on campus.

In addition, the Secretary coordinates with committee members to ensure smooth execution of initiatives, adherence to timelines, and efficient resource utilisation. By combining operational efficiency with a strong understanding of branding, the role helps MARC fulfil its guiding motto of “Making Life Less Tricky in Trichy,” while reinforcing a shared sense of identity and belonging within the institute community.

From coordinating the Sambhuya mentorship programme and the Gyanam Anantam guest lecture series to organising City Meets across five major cities and the much-anticipated IIMpressions reunion, the Secretary drives initiatives that bring alumni and students together in meaningful ways. Storytelling and recognition are equally important parts of the responsibility. Through the Know Your Alumni YouTube series, weekly Alumni Quotes, Achievement Posts, and the bi-annual Alumni Digest, the Secretary ensures that alumni voices continue to inspire long after graduation. The Young Alumni Excellence Awards further celebrate the impact that IIM Trichy graduates carry into the world.
